Organic Farmer Pioneer

During Our Harvest Festival in September we honor a local organic farmer pioneer. Past years we have honored, Jack DeOrieo, Ela Family Farms, Sarah and Tom Rumery, Ken and Gail Kuhns, Eliot Coleman, Jerome Osentowski. These folks are some of America’s leading practitioners of organic gardening and farming.

We are crafting our own raw 100% grass-fed biodynamic dairy products, whole milk, cream, butter, yogurt, kefir, dairy beef. We are crafting heirloom vegetables, heritage pork, and lamb. Our eggs our famous locally, no one seems to be able to duplicate them. It is time that this meal, this event of giving thanks for the bounty that comes from this land is honored in some way. We are stewarding this ever more balanced and healthy soil.

Sustainable Settings is celebrating 25 years of operation, we have been bringing the farm to the table since 1997. We coined the phrase “Know Farmers Know Food.” We touch the hearts and minds of many thousands throughout the year with our educational offerings but this event, this meal, is the culmination of all of our year’s effort. It brings together so many people who have helped us to share in the peak flavor from this land each year. And by all reports it rates. This is the moment each year where it all comes together, it is an event horizon, folks.

We search for the words and photographs that can put into words what this event brings to light, to our palettes, to our health, to our sense of communities?
